… die erste Etappe Fortsetzung

Heute ist die Abreise nach Neuseeland geplant. Unser Flug geht allerdings erst abends, so haben wir noch einen weiteren Tag für die Erkundung der Stadt zu Verfügung. Wir entscheiden uns erstmal für eine Bootsfahrt in der Bay … mit Blick auf die uns mittlerweile schon vertrauten Wahrzeichen der Stadt, also noch einmal, diesmal von der anderen Seite… Ich habe das Gefühl alles schon 200 Mal fotografiert zu haben, heute deshalb weniger Fotos.

Today the departure to New Zealand is planned. However, our flight doesn’t start until the evening, so we have another day to explore the city. We decide to go for a boat trip in the Bay…. with a view to the now familiar landmarks of the city, once again, this time from the other side…. I have the feeling that I have photographed everything 200 times already, which is why there are fewer photos today.

… Singapur Flyer, Marina Bay Sands Hotel und die Skyline des Bankenviertels bei einer gemütlichen Bootsfahrt in kleinen, schnuggeligen Touristenbooten. Die besondere Überraschung: Die Boote fahren mit Elektromotoren, also kein Dieselgestank um die Nase, wie wir es von anderen Fahrten in Hamburg, New York und Boston kennen … 100 Punkte für das umweltbewusste Singapur.

Im Anschluss kann ich es mir nicht verkneifen, die Shopping Mall Orchard Road ins Visier zu nehmen. Wir marschieren einmal quer durch vom einen zum anderen Ende und amüsieren uns über den Prunk und die doch ziemliche kitschige Weihnachtsdekoration überall. Egal ob Frankfurt, Hamburg, New York oder eben Singapur, Shopping Malls sind doch überall ziemlich dieselben und auch in Singapore treffen wir auf die üblichen Verdächtigen von Dior über Prada bis zu H&M und wie Sie alle heißen.

Wer mich kennt, weiß, dass sich hier keiner groß um den Geldbeutel sorgen machen muss. Ich bin keine Shopping-Queen und Kleider und Schmuck können mir nur ein müdes Lächeln entlocken… (Ich steh mehr auf die viereckigen Kästen mit viel Elektronik dahinter :-)) So kann auch Dietmar die Tour ganz entspannt genießen.

Am Schluss noch einen Abstecher in’s Hardrock Café, bestellte Souvenirs besorgen, dann geht’s zurück ins Hotel. Unser Fazit: Singapur ist wirklich eine tolle Stadt, verbindet moderne Lebensart, „deutschen“ Ordnungssinn und „schwäbische“ Sauberkeit mit asiatischem Flair, die Temperaturen von ca. 30 °C mit mal mehr mal weniger hoher Luftfeuchtigkeit sind angenehm .. ich liebe es warm, wir fühlen uns hier sehr wohl! Aber trotzdem – wir haben jetzt genug von der Großstadt und wir freuen uns mega auf Neuseeland.

The special surprise: the boats are powered by electric motors, so there is no diesel smell around our noses as we know it from other trips … 100 points for the green Singapore.

Afterwards, I can’t help but keep my eye on the shopping mall Orchard Road. We march across from one end to the other and enjoy the splendour and the rather kitschy Christmas decorations everywhere. No matter if it’s Frankfurt, Hamburg, New York or Singapore, shopping malls are pretty much the same everywhere and also in Singapore we meet the usuals from Dior to Prada to H&M and whatever.

Those who know me know that nobody here has to worry much about the wallet. I am not a shopping queen and dresses and jewelry can only elicit a tired smile…. (I like the square boxes with a lot of electronics behind them: -)) So Dietmar can enjoy the tour very relaxed.

At the end of the day we go to the Hardrock Café, got some souvenirs and then go back to the hotel. Our conclusion: Singapore is really a great city, combines modern lifestyle,“German“ sense of order and „Swabian“ cleanliness with Asian flair, the temperatures of approx. 30 °C with sometimes more times less high humidity are pleasant… I love it warm, we feel very comfortable here! But still – we’ve had enough of the big city now and are really looking forward to New Zealand.
