Der Milford Sound einer der zig Fjorde im Fjordland am Südende von Neuseeland, scheint einer der wenigen zu sein, der per Fahrzeug / Bus überhaupt erreichbar ist. Ein Ausflug zum Fjord steht heute auf dem Plan! Dazu werden wir morgens um 7:30 direkt an unserer Pension mit dem Bus abgeholt.
The Milford sound of one of the lots of fjords in the fjord country at the southern end of New Zealand seems to be one of the few that can be reached by car / bus at all. A trip to the fjord is planned for today! In the morning we will be picked up at 7:30am directly at our pension by bus.

Weiter geht’s Richtung Süden. Da heutige Ziel ist Te-Anau am Lake Te Anau am Rand des sogenannten Fjordlandes. Die Fahrt ist ziemlich lange, mehr als 300 km über kurvige State-Highways. Wir fahren durch wechselnde Landschaften, Weideland mit Schaf- und Rinderherden, alpine Regionen mit Passüberquerung. Die Landschaft ist fremdartig mit bekannten Facetten aus Allgäu und den Alpen, in jedem -Fall aber einzigartig.
Continue southbound. As today’s destination is Te-Anau at Lake Te Anau on the edge of the so-called fjord country. The ride is quite long, more than 300 km over winding state highways. We drive through changing landscapes, pastureland with herds of sheep and cattle, alpine regions with pass crossing. The landscape is strange with well-known facets from Allgäu and the Alps, but unique in every case.

So jetzt geht sie also los unsere Rundfahrt. Von der Anreise sind wir noch ziemlich müde und schaffen die Abfahrt in Christchurch erst ca. 10:30 Uhr Ortszeit. Zunächst geht es durch die fruchtbare Ebene von Canterbury, mit Gemüseanbau und Viehzucht, typisches Farmland. Wir fahren in die Südalpen, machen unterwegs einen kurzen Halt an einem sympathischen kleinen Lokal an der Straße mit wunderschönem Blick über das Land.
Finally, now we start our tour. From the arrival we are still quite tired and manage the departure in Christchurch only about 10:30 o‘ clock local time. First of all, it goes through the fertile plain of Canterbury, with vegetable growing and cattle breeding, typical farmland. We drive to the Southern Alps, make a short stop at a nice little restaurant on the road with a wonderful view over the country.

Weitere 9,5 Stunden im Flieger quer über Malaysia und Australien nach Neuseeland, diesmal kommt mir der Flug schon nicht mehr ganz so quälend vor, obwohl wir viel enger sitzen und leider keinen Fensterplatz haben. Mittags um 12:30 Uhr landen wir in Christchurch auf der Südinsel und haben weitere 5 Stunden quasi verloren. Der Zeitunterschied zu Deutschland beträgt jetzt 12 Stunden.
Another 9.5 hours in the plane across Malaysia and Australia to New Zealand, this time the flight doesn’t seem to be quite so tormenting, although we sit much closer and unfortunately have no window seat. At noon at 12:30 pm we land in Christchurch on the South Island and lost another 5 hours. The time difference to Germany is now 12 hours.

Heute ist die Abreise nach Neuseeland geplant. Unser Flug geht allerdings erst abends, so haben wir noch einen weiteren Tag für die Erkundung der Stadt zu Verfügung. Wir entscheiden uns erstmal für eine Bootsfahrt in der Bay … mit Blick auf die uns mittlerweile schon vertrauten Wahrzeichen der Stadt, also noch einmal, diesmal von der anderen Seite… Ich habe das Gefühl alles schon 200 Mal fotografiert zu haben, heute deshalb weniger Fotos.

Today the departure to New Zealand is planned. However, our flight doesn’t start until the evening, so we have another day to explore the city. We decide to go for a boat trip in the Bay…. with a view to the now familiar landmarks of the city, once again, this time from the other side…. I have the feeling that I have photographed everything 200 times already, which is why there are fewer photos today.

Singapore Intensiv-Erlebnistag! Nachdem der Himmel gestern noch etwas bedrohlich aussah und es abends kräftig regnete, werden wir heute morgen von strahlendem Sonnenschein begrüßt. Erstmal die Reiseunterlagen studieren. In der Stopover-Buchung sind viele Sehenswürdigkeiten vorgeschlagen und kostenlos enthalten … nur welche davon sollen wir denn bloß in Angriff nehmen. Schließlich haben wir nur begrenzt Zeit und abhetzen wollen wir uns auch nicht.

Singapore Intensive Experience Day! After the sky looked a little threatening yesterday and it rained heavily in the evening, we are greeted by bright sunshine this morning. First study the travel documents. In the stopover booking many attractions are suggested and included free of charge…. but which of them we are supposed to tackle. After all, we have only limited time and we don’t want to rush away …
